Life Transitions

The only thing that is constant is Change...

 

Transition is change… and the one thing that is guaranteed is that we will experience transitions in life. Change is life’s way of keeping us on our toes and presents us with opportunities to develop and grow as individuals. Change can be met with numerous emotions (excitement, fear, dread, anxiety, happiness, sadness, etc.) Sometimes we need someone to talk with as we experience transitions in life. 

 

We know that change is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t mean it’s always comfortable.  Some transitions can be predictable, such as a move, graduating, buying a home, or upcoming marriage, or they can be unpredictable, such as the death of a loved one or a sudden loss of a job. Regardless of the circumstance, every transition we experience forces us to examine and make changes to our existing way of doing life and build skills such as resiliency, strength, or patience.   This is especially true when the shifts are sudden or unexpected.  At these times, we may struggle because our situations don’t match our expectations for how we thought our lives would be.

Some examples of transitions can include:

  • Graduating High School and figuring out what is next

  • Moving out of your house for the 1st time. 

  • First time living on your own. 

  • New relationship

  • Going to college

  • Your first job

  • Work Stress

  • Your first child

  • Getting married

  • Grief and Loss

  • Starting a family

  • Buying a home and much more.
